This heat has really been something this summer! Make sure you are taking actions to keep yourself cool, in addition to hiding out IN the coolness of your air-conditioned home. When the temperature runs hot, so does our nerves and tempers. We tend to burn out quickly and our adrenal glands can get taxed leading to unusual fatigue. For some tips on staying cool check this month's post, Ancient Wisdom to Cool Down in a Modern World.

 

We also have 2 Featured Teachers this month- one ancient (in a matter of speaking), in our ongoing series Original Pilates Gangster (OPG), and one modern, present day in our Featured Teacher Anne. If you haven’t yet had the opportunity to take one of Anne’s classes, get her while you can! Anne is a guest teacher visiting us from Boca Raton, Florida for the summer through September.  She has been teaching for 6 years and practicing for 20. She has multiple Pilates training certifications.

 

Check out this month’s Daily Move on the Reformer- for some tips and inspiration on how to perfect your Pulling Straps on the Reformer. Modeled by the lovely teacher in training Janet Smirnov.

 

If you don’t mind me getting personal and mushy, check out my article Lost Diamonds, as I continue to share the joys and sorrows of being a newlywed and caring for a mother with dementia. 

 

Join us on August 18th at 10AM for our monthly Mat Pilates class in the Courtyard, led by Alex Gordon.  This class is also open to the public so bring out your friend. You know the one. The one that has been saying I really want to try Pilates.

 

Just as our teachers in training move around the corner to begin preparing for their final exams held in September, we also begun taking registration for our next training program. The new program will begin on September 28th. So, get ready for a new round of volunteer/free class sessions, as well as new faces at the studio.   

 

Speaking of free classes- don’t forget to take advantage of our almost free, 

$10 Reformer classes. The class size is maxed at 2-3PP, and sometimes it ends up being a private. These PopTT-Up classes are running now through the end of the month on: 

M/T/W/Th 7PM

T/Th 1:30PM

Fri 8AM

Sat/Sun 9:15AM & 12PM
